From high school to college to my bigtime gig (not really) at a weekly football publication, covering the sports beat has always been an interest to me since the day my high school journalism teacher told me to rewrite a mangled story regarding the exploits of the school's lacrosse team. Apparently she was impressed with my scribbling and I began to realize I actually had a purpose in life.
My rollercoaster ride along corporate America's cruel and uncertain path saw numerous layoffs and rehirings, resulting in a career change to the teaching field. Before the move I worked for Sports Eye Inc., where I wrote for the company's various publications that included College & Pro Football Weekly, Sportsform and the illustrious Platinum Sheet. Just don't ask about my handicapping record for NFL picks.
Since the days of the early eighties, I've been a disgruntled Buffalo Bills fan who may never see his team lift the Lombardi trophy. The late nineties saw me ease up on other sports and get interested about soccer--a sport I played a good deal in my life. Now I never miss a U.S. National team game and vow to put any and all Euro snobs in their proper place.
